It's a long way off, but designers are already floating ideas for a new bridge in Cincinnati to relieve congestion on the Brent Spence Bridge. There are three suggestions: a suspended arch bridge, a cable stayed bridge with two towers and a cable stayed bridge with one really, really tall tower.
Although I'm a fan of cable stayed bridges, the arch bridge looks the best to my eyes because of the way its design could complement the steel truss design of the old bridge. It's worked elsewhere, and it should work in Cincinnati.
