Delta Queen

By now you've all probably heard the news about the Delta Queen. I don't have anything to add except that I'll get really excited when I see the boat back on the river in 2020, assuming it happens. I may have to fight every photographer and every drone operator to get a good spot to shoot, but I'll get something, God willing.

I'm already planning my shooting spots (and hoping my contacts who can get me access to some really good ones that are off limits to the general public have not retired by then).

Who knows, I might even drag out every photo I took of the DQ in the film era, including when I squeezed every shot possible out of every roll.

Perhaps 2020 will be a good year after all.

I sure do hope that the DQ does get to run the river again. I have a few old photos of her running the Ohio as well and from the family archives from way back in 1973, my dad had gotten a film camera and he shot some really wonderful footage of the Queen while our family and another close and long time friends had rented a houseboat out of Aurora, IND back in the day that such companies once existed.

I had wished that instead of the place that the company chose to locate the new iteration of the Delta Queen Steamboat Company, it had been back in Cincinnati rather than that little town south of St. Louis on the Mississippi--but hey---it will just be great to see and have that part of American history back working again, hauling paying passengers up and down the great rivers of this part of the world...
