High water = Muddy banks

One thing about high water this time of year is that you don't know how long it will take the river bank to dry out. The places I tend to go -- the ones that aren't paved, anyway -- can be muddy for a long time into spring.

That's what I told a former coworker who wanted to know of any good, safe spots to night fish between, say, Point Pleasant and Huntington. It's probably going to be a while before he finds a spot that's not next to a boat ramp.

There's no doubt the big story on the river this week is the high water. Adam and I went out this evening and saw a few things. We'll be out again tomorrow as I take him to his grandmother's for the weekend. I should get some decent photos. I'll post some of the better ones tomorrow, I guess.
