Low flow (Updated)

Another sign we haven't had a lot of rain here in the upper middle part of the Ohio River: The Huntington District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is restricting lockages of recreational craft to even-numbered hours.

I hear we won't get rain for a while, and the daytime temps could hit 100 by Friday.

UPDATE: I took the link down. It's not working. Instead, here is a news release that says the same thing.

Mr Ross,

Thank you for this post. I have passed the info along to my friends cruising the Ohio. They were waiting for the Greenup lock when they received my email on their Iphone.

They tell me that cruising the Ohio beats anything we have here on the east coast - the Intercoastal Waterway, or the Chesapeake. If more small towns would put in docks more cruisers would come, and spend more money at grocery stores and restaurants.

I've gone back and read many of your old posts. This is a really nice site.

If you rather I not comment, just say so.

Wave to the crew of the Carolyn Ann as they pass by Huntington. Charleston WV is on their plan for the return trip.

Thanks for your site,
