My grandfather, Col. Harry Pockras, was District Engineer for the Corps of Engineers in Huntington during much of WW2. Earlier, he had been the Corps' civilian Chief Engineer. He was the head of the design team for the dam and the old 1937 locks.
I love the Ohio River. I enjoy reading about the river, smelling the river, photographing the river, listening to its sounds ... and we can share them here.
